Sunday, and off to Teatro Verdi in Pisa, via Lucca, to see Carmen. A cracker of a day, and the streets of Lucca were busy, and glowing in the sunshine.
Pisa was buzzing, and we had a coffee and then a leisurely stroll down to the river where the theatre is. One of the reasons to go Pisa for the opera is because it has a "proper" opera house - apparently one of the most beautiful in Italy. And it is beautiful. The show? Well, we really enjoyed it. The music is familiar, of course, and some of the arias and chorus pieces were wonderful. Maybe the stage direction could have been better? - but we are perhaps too used to the professionalism of Stromness Drama Club.
Afterwards, there was time for a refreshment on the way across the river to the railway station.

ReplyDeleteYes - but for the wow factor, Teatro dei Differenti has it for us - it is such a surprise to find in a tiny square in Barga!
